Editor's Note

This post has been updated with new information.

Since 2020, Chase has partnered with DoorDash, offering discounts on the company's DashPass unlimited delivery program to select cardholders. Due to wrap up at the end of 2024, this partnership has now been extended for another three years — through the end of 2027.

DoorDash' DashPass membership usually costs $9.99 per month. For this, customers receive lower service fees and free delivery on eligible restaurant orders over $12 or more and grocery orders over $25. According to DoorDash, members tend to save $4-$5 per order.

Depending on the Chase card you carry, though, you can get a complimentary DashPass membership or at a steep discount. Eligible cardholders can sign up now through Dec. 31, 2027, to receive a complimentary DoorDash Dash Pass membership, along with recurring benefits on orders from over 150,000 grocery, convenience and non-restaurant stores on DoorDash. ADash Pash membership includes no delivery fees and reduced service fees.

Let's dive into the new and extended benefits.

Extended: DashPass membership

Depending on their card, those who enroll will enjoy Dash Pass privileges for 3-12 months. If you currently have a free Dash Pash membership, it will be extended through December 2027.

This membership typically costs $96 annually, so this is a great way to test out a food or grocery delivery service and not pay any delivery fees.

Here are the benefits for Chase Sapphire Reserve®, J.P. Morgan Reserve® and Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card cardholders:

  • Cardholders with active, free DashPass memberships will continue to receive the benefit through Dec. 31, 2027.
  • New and existing Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred cardholders who have not yet activated the DashPass benefit can enroll to receive a complimentary DashPass membership through Dec. 31, 2027, or a minimum of 12 months, dependent upon the activation date.

And here are the benefits for Chase Freedom and Slate cardholders:

  • Cardholders who have not used the Chase DashPass benefit have until Jan. 31, 2025, to enroll in the current benefit — three months of free membership followed by nine months of discounted DashPass.
  • Starting February 1, 2025, new enrollees will receive six free months of DashPass.

The information on the J.P. Morgan Reserve has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

To activate, go to the DoorDash website or app and simply add your eligible Chase card. Note that after the free benefit period ends, your Dash Pass membership will automatically be converted to a paid monthly plan.

There's no reason you shouldn't enroll in DashPass now since you'll enjoy the membership for over three years at this point (for the rest of 2024 and throughout 2025, 2026 and 2027).

Note that if you've previously activated DoorDash DashPass and canceled it before the previous promotion end date (Jan. 31, 2022), you're eligible to reactivate your membership on the app to reap the benefits through 2024 as well. Simply reenter your eligible card details and your membership should become active again.

New: Non-restaurant credits

Cardholders should be pleased to see the addition of promotions and in-app credit when using their eligible Chase card with DoorDash. The cards receiving new DoorDash benefits are:

Chase Sapphire Reserve and J.P. Morgan Reserve

  • Cardholders with an activated Sapphire Reserve DashPass membership now receive two promos of up to $10 off each calendar month at checkout on grocery, convenience or other non-restaurant orders on DoorDash.
  • Cardholders will continue to receive a $5 monthly DoorDash in-app credit off all orders through Jan. 31, 2025. However, beginning Feb. 1, 2025, this will change to $5 off restaurant orders only.

The latter credit may seem like a downgrade because it's being restricted from all orders to restaurant orders from February 2025. However, the addition of the two new credits will mean that cardholders come out on top overall.

Chase Sapphire Preferred

  • Cardholders with an activated Sapphire Preferred DashPass membership now receive one promo of up to $10 off each calendar month at checkout on one grocery, convenience or other non-restaurant order on DoorDash.

Chase Freedom and Slate cardholders

  • Receive one promo of up to $10 off each quarter at checkout on one grocery, convenience or other non-restaurant order on DoorDash.

These promos, along with the free delivery from the Dash Pass membership, can really save cardholders some money on non-restaurant orders on Doordash.

Other Chase cardholders

Remember that if you have a cobranded Chase credit card (e.g., an airline or hotel card), you might be eligible for a year of complimentary DoorDash DashPass membership, too. You just have to register your card by Dec. 31, 2024.

If you haven't enrolled yet, simply add your eligible card to the DoorDash site or app and click to add the offer. After the first year, DashPass will renew at the full $9.99 monthly price.

There are a good number of Chase cards that are eligible for this promotion, including the following cobranded families:

The Prime Visa is not eligible for this offer.

So, even if you don't have one of the Sapphire cards, your cobranded card can still provide up to a year of DashPass benefits.

Bottom line

Receiving no delivery fees and discounts through a DoorDash Dash Pass membership is a nice benefit. DoorDash is expanding its non-restaurant offerings and adding perks that can save cardholders money. This can be especially useful when you're craving a late-night snack from a convenience store or need something from a grocery store and don't feel like going.

Plus, if you have a Chase card with an annual fee and are able to fully maximize these new DoorDash discounts, you can effectively lower your card's annual fee.
