Best credit cards for Global Entry and TSA PreCheck of March 2025

Most of the cards we feature here are from partners who compensate us when you approve through our site, and this may impact how or where these products appear. We don’t cover all available credit cards, but our analysis, reviews, and opinions are entirely from our editorial team. Please view our  advertising policy and  product review methodology for more information.

Getting through airport security isn’t anyone’s idea of fun — which is why the best credit cards for Global Entry and TSA PreCheck are so valuable. Whether queuing up for security on a short domestic flight or waiting in long lines at passport control upon return from an international getaway, the delays can be agonizing. Fortunately, there are ways to minimize these hassles at airports — including programs like Global Entry and TSA PreCheck. While these programs charge fees to join, many credit cards cover the membership cost.

At TPG, we know how important it is to have the right cards in your wallet, which is why our team of travel experts created this list of the best credit cards from our partners for Global Entry and TSA PreCheck to simplify your travel experiences.

At The Points Guy, our goal is to help you maximize your travel experiences while minimizing spending. Our travel and credit cards experts share their own experiences and give honest analyses to help you make decisions that benefit you the most. While we do receive compensation through our credit card application links, ads, and clearly indicated sponsored content, our editorial content, points valuations and card analysis are entirely our own.

The Amex Platinum is unmatched when it comes to travel perks and benefits. If lounge access, hotel elite status and annual statement credits are important to you, this card is well worth the high annual fee. Read our full review of the Amex Platinum card.

Pros

  • The current welcome offer on this card is quite lucrative.

More details on the best Global Entry and TSA PreCheck credit cards

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card blends a flat earning rate with high-value redemption options, all for a low $95 annual fee.

The card’s modest annual fee and solid return on everyday spending make this card great for beginner travelers and those new to the world of points and miles.

“The Capital One Venture is a great card that can add value to pretty much anyone's wallet. I use it to earn 2 miles per dollar on the purchases that fall outside of my other cards' bonus categories. The annual fee is low, Capital One miles are easy to redeem and the card does come with a few nice perks — including TSA PreCheck®/Global Entry application fee reimbursement.” — Madison Blancaflor, senior content operations editor

If you want more perks, the premium Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card provides lounge access, a number of free authorized users (see rates and fees) and up to $300 in credits annually for bookings made through Capital One Travel.

Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is one of the best premium rewards cards, with valuable earning rates and plentiful perks that are easy to understand. Plus, the up-to-$300 in annual credits make up for most of the annual fee.

With its reasonable $395 annual fee, the card is nearly a no-brainer for luxury-seeking travelers who can make the most of its travel benefits.

“With an annual fee that is $300 less than that of The Platinum Card® from American Express (see rates and fees), the Capital One Venture X card is my favorite travel credit card. The card comes with an annual $300 Capital One Travel portal credit, which I use to book flights. That effectively brings the annual fee down to $95 per year. I use my Venture X card to earn 2 miles per dollar (a 3.7% return at TPG's valuations) in spending categories where most cards would only accrue 1 mile (e.g., auto maintenance, pharmacies, medical bills).” — Kyle Olsen, former points and miles reporter

If you want even more luxury travel benefits and don’t mind a hefty annual fee, The Platinum Card® from American Express has a complicated assortment of perks, including at least 10 different built-in statement credits allotted in time frames ranging from monthly to every four years.

Chase Sapphire Reserve®

The Chase Sapphire Reserve earns valuable Ultimate Rewards points that can be transferred to hotel and airline partners or redeemed directly for flights at a rate of 1.5 cents per point. Add in a $300 annual travel credit, airport lounge access and a litany of other perks, and this card is sure to upgrade your travel lifestyle.

The Sapphire Reserve is great for frequent travelers who spend a lot on dining and travel, plus those who can take advantage of perks like the complimentary one year DoorDash DashPass subscription (activate by December 31, 2027).

“The Chase Sapphire Reserve is a no-brainer for me. My top two spending categories are travel and dining, and this card lets me earn 3 points per dollar in both of these categories. Then, I can transfer these points to one of Chase’s travel partners or redeem them for a generous 1.5 cents apiece through the Chase travel portal or Pay Yourself Back program. The card has a high annual fee, but I don't mind paying it thanks to perks like a $300 travel credit, Priority Pass lounge access and impressive travel protections.” — Benji Stawski, former senior reporter

If you want premium rewards for a lower annual fee, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card offers access to numerous lounges including Plaza Premium and Capital One lounges, but has a lower price tag of $395 per year (see rates and fees). You’ll also enjoy insurance protections and earn a minimum of 2 miles per dollar on all purchases, plus get up to $300 in credits each year for bookings through Capital One Travel.

For Capital One products listed on this page, some of the benefits may be provided by Visa® or Mastercard® and may vary by product. See the respective Guide to Benefits for details, as terms and exclusions apply.

The Platinum Card® from American Express

The Platinum Card from American Express is one of the top premium travel rewards cards, offering valuable Membership Rewards points, annual statement credits and access to an extensive network of airport lounges worldwide.

The card is as good as it gets for frequent travelers and luxury spenders who can take advantage of its bevy of benefits.

“As a frequent traveler, the Platinum Card's extensive lounge access makes the card a must-have on the road. I can access Delta Sky Clubs, Centurion Lounges, Plaza Premium lounges, Priority Pass lounges and others. More often than not, this means I have a place to relax before my flight. This has saved me thousands of dollars in airport food over the years and keeps me productive at the airport. On top of this, the up to $200 airline fee statement credit and up to $200 Uber Cash offset most of the card's high annual fee. Enrollment is required” — Andrew Kunesh, former points and miles editor

If you want a slightly lower annual fee, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® has a $550 annual price tag but offers a $300 travel credit and some of the best travel protections available.

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express

The Business Platinum Card from American Express is one of the best business rewards cards around, thanks mostly to the sheer number of perks it offers cardmembers. While it requires some work to take full advantage of them, the effort can pay off with savings of hundreds or even thousands of dollars per year.

The card is best for businesses that spend a ton of money annually and can capitalize on its travel perks.

“I find that the annual perks and credits vastly outweigh the large annual fee. And that's even without using some of them. By using the benefits with Priority Pass and Amex lounges, the airline incidental credits, plus the statement credits for Clear, our cellphone plan and restocking my home printer with ink and paper from Dell, I get more value out of the card than it costs to keep it. Plus, it earns my favorite points — American Express Membership Rewards — with 5 points per dollar on flights and hotels booked with Amex Travel.” — Ryan Smith, former credit cards writer

If you want a lower annual fee, The American Express® Business Gold Card offers similar redemption options to the Business Platinum but at just $375 annually (see rates and fees). The Amex Business Gold Card also offers six bonus categories, one of which is airfare purchased directly from airlines.
